Associate Director for Statehood

Buket Demirci is the Associate Director for Statehood in the Executive Office of the Senior Advisor to Mayor Bowser. She joined the team in 2020 as a Special Assistant to the Senior Advisor and was promoted to her current role in 2022. In this position, she oversees statehood initiatives, events, budget management and the national education campaign.

Prior to her role in the Executive Office, Buket gained extensive experience in management and communications at Fortune 100 and Fortune 50 companies, including Delta Airlines and Marriott International. This experience provided her with valuable insight on global business operations and cultural fluency.

Buket holds a Bachelor of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, with a specialization in Justice and Reconciliation, from George Mason University, where she was a member of the highly selective Carter School Peacebuilding Fellows.
