Director, Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs
Alana Intrieri was appointed as Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs (OPLA) in January 2017. In OPLA, she leads the team’s efforts to advance Mayor Bowser’s legislative and policy agenda through collaboration with District agencies, the DC Council, and other stakeholders. Alana initially joined the Bowser Administration in August 2016 as Deputy General Counsel in the Executive Office of the Mayor, where she worked to ensure that the Mayor’s priorities are implemented without unnecessary entanglements in the courts or undue legal risk.
Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, Ms. Intrieri served as Special Counsel to Chairman Phil Mendelson at the Council of the District of Columbia. There, she worked on broad range of policy issues, including a focus on issues related to homeless services in the District. Before joining District government, she worked at several area non-profits where she focused on issues related to education of vulnerable and underserved children in the District.
Alana, a Ward 6 resident, earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
